HW Creativity

With the ongoing advancement of technology, there have been a huge improvement in our society to this day because of the new media age. From the way we connect to people, to meeting people, to finding jobs, to starting our businesses, and to even using the technology to really pursue and transform our ideas into perspective and reality. I think that new media technology does help foster our creativity beyond its boundaries, in many ways that was very far from accomplishing during the old media age. According to the article “Creators, Audiences, and New Media: Creativity in an Interactive Environment” by Isaac Bell, he states “New media, with its ease of access, immediacy, and ability to preserve even trivial interactions, offers a different way to study creativity and audiences. Thanks to digital technology and cheap tools that lower barriers to complex creation, as well as the ease of self- and small-publication through the Internet, we have seen an explosion in the number of people who can assume the creator role.” This demonstrates the power of new media and its influence on giving people that edge with ease of access to really express themselves in new creative efforts, as well as to find other like-minded people to form communities, discuss works, and potentially act publically or otherwise engage deeply with the ideals expressed in a work. He also states “Not only did these advances make it easier to distribute the created work, but each one gave audiences the ability to respond to these works in their own ways, from written discussions to attempts to create their own art.” Since the emergence of new media and the internet and information being able to spread quickly and vastly I believe that fosters creativity within us, because it makes it possible for one to share an idea, create something and have it shared across the world and not just in a small community. I have seen more and more people being able to pursue their artistic side to them, by starting their clothing brands online, using the social platforms to promote their work, photography have been more fun and interactive you could literally browse the web and see hundreds of thousands artworks created and shared, students become more engaged in discussions, companies marketing and ads have been more attractive, etc. As these technologies have shaped creators and audience interactions, new media has changed the nature of these interactions in dramatic ways
